EDITORS NOTE: TNEWS received the following emails.

Congratulation on your News Anchor Job there in NZ, well I'm just a concern Tongan and please forward this letter to Tavake Fusimalohi at Kele'a in Tonga.  Many of our Tongan in the US writes LTE to matangi tonga but feel that our LTE are being screen for whatever reasons, I guess free press does not exist in Tonga.

After reading some of the press from both the Govt. and the people's MP, I'm really troubled that you did not print my enclosed LTE, on 15th, is there now a control press only to favor this Govt, now that they are hiring another Tongan supposed to be Journalist to be Press Secretary to the PM ?. I have always stated my own view and do not know any of the characters in the peoples side, but very disturb in my view, that Tonga has suppressed it's citizen for far too long, I hope that your paper would stay neutral and report all views from the free public with out any press control.

Sincerely and Mahalo

"Leaders should not under estimate the peoples power"

It is with sadness to see our beloved country Tonga, turn to this reactionary lawlessness way, I myself do not condone the act of lawlessness and violence,  but a lot of letter writer to Matangi Tonga, have been warning this "Status Quo Government" to be careful and not too comfortable in it's care taking status, but they have been ignoring the majority and not too inclusive in it's operation and they have been too comfortable with their temporary position.

It is obvious to us outsider looking in, of how this Govt. and the King, conspire to protect their little group of a few, and design their new Model of Govt. to insulate their position with the numbers and it's caveat for the King to still wilt his Power with his appointment of new Ministers and Diplomat in Govt. The majority of the people of Tonga and it's leaders can see all through these Govt. Scheme, it will never work, because that is the same Govt. that all these studies NCPR, have been suggested to change to a more open freely elected Parliament.

With all due respect to the Honorable PM, you are a very brilliant man and a great leader,  I am convince that if you listen to the people, and do the right thing with consultation and consider what is good for the majority and your fellow commoner like you and I, you can lead independently from the King and it's Nobles, and the people will back you up and your Govt., please consider the peoples plea to open up this Govt. to the people and stop appeasing the few Nobles and Royalist, and The House of the King.  The Tongan people has spoken, they would continue to respect the House of the King, but wanted the Govt. to operate by the Majority of the people.

I have tried to point out in my letter to Matangi Tonga several issues about this Govt., and how History has not been too kind to Leaders that does not listen to the Majority, there is a sickness in any society with "Power and Money", Former US President William Clinton in one of his speeches, and I Quote: "Third world countries will never get out of their poverty if their Leaders does not share the Power and Money of the country with the majority of it's citizen. Lets all try to work together in this time of trouble with cool head and lots of consultation between our leaders.

Tonga should behave like respectful civilized citizen of the world as they all are, and the Govt. Leaders should start talking to the people.  Both sides should sit town and share their frustration in consultation in a peaceful manner.  Leaders of Tonga Govt., listen to your people, please lets not let History repeat the worse of  human kind by not listening to your people.

My Prayer for a peaceful solution
