EARTHQUAKES RATTLE TONGA
Four earthquakes mearsuring 5.8, 5.0, 5.2 and 4.0 magnitude have rattled Tonga over the last few days.
 
According to the United States Geological Survey or USGS,
the first quake hit at 2.40am December 18th local time.
 
With a magnitude of 5.0 the quake is reported to have been at a depth of 31.8km and located at 21.233 degrees South, 174.485 degrees West - 80km East of Nuku’alofa.
 
The second quake struck just 11 minutes later at 2.51am December 18th local time.
 
With a magnitude of 5.8 the quake is reported to have been at a depth of 41km and located at 20.280 degrees South, 174.462 degrees West - 80km East of Nuku’alofa.
 
The third quake struck at 9:57am the same morning measuring 4.0 magnitude. It’s location was reported as 20.642 degrees South, 174.537 degrees West and 90km NorthEast of Nuku’alofa at a depth of 15km.
 
The most recent quake which struck this morning was a magnitude of 5.2.
 
Located 90km East NorthEast bearing 20.854 degrees South, 174.442 degrees west, the quake is reported to have been at a depth of 10km.
 
Currently no damage has been reported.
