Allegations
emerged after friends revealed that their deceased friend whom was
found dead in the Shoreline building rubble on Friday 17th November
2006, was actually with them in prison the night before. They
claimed, their friend was badly wounded when the police beat them in
their cells. “About 2.00 AM Friday 17th, Police
officers came and took the man out from the cell”.
They were chilled and surprised to hear their friend was
amongst the other corpses found burnt in the shoreline fire.
Pro-democracy
Leader ‘Akilisi Pohiva told TNEWS that he questions the cause
of the man’s death and legal action will be taken.
“There is no doubt there was abuse happening in the
cells. Photos were taken as proof”.
Parents
of the deceased man are still in Tonga at the moment. They
are determined to find out what really happened to their son on the
night of his death. “Was
he really trapped in the shoreline building or was he beaten to death
by the Police and then secretly placed him in the rubble as a cover
up”. The police are silent
on the matter.
