CYCLONE THREATENS TONGA
Thursday, 5 April 2007
Reports are coming in that Cyclone Cliff boasting current wind speeds of 75km/h is heading towards southern Tonga.

Fiji’s Meteorological Service claims Cyclone Cliff  struck northern and eastern parts of Fiji last night and is currently moving off the coast of the Lau group of Islands towards it’s next possible destination, Tonga.

Cyclone Cliff is reported to have claimed one life in Fiji, a woman, and barely missed claiming 30 students after a landslide smashed into the walls of the Hostel they were in.

While remote areas have been cut off with damage to buildings and roads reported from Taveuni and eastern Vanua Levu, other islands have reported flooding.

Tonga is currently under a gale force warning.
