Is it true that we have a choice of Feleti Vaka'uta Sevele or 'Etuate Sungalu Lavulavu as the new Governor of Vava'u ? Its good NOT to face elections and Vava'u is seen by politicians as an easy 'piece of cake'.
Why has the PM put the blame on Mr Justice Andrews (of Australia) for his non-renewal of his contract as the Puisne Judge of Tonga? Was it because Andrews J was the Chairman of the 'MV Princess Ashika' Royal Commission ?
Grateful for your views please.
Sorry for my 'bad' (repetition) but why are public servants required to resign first before standing for elections ? Why doesn't it apply to Ministers & Governors ?large]

OK so lets get things straight, Justice Andrew was due to hear this week in the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa the court case between Shoreline Group of Companies v. Inland Revenue Department. Furthemore, 'Akilisi Pohiva goes back to work on Monday in Nuku'alofa whilst the sale of government properties & assets continues in haste before a new Government comes in. I just wonder whether the current politicians and the candidates can read the political landscape ?

Yes Hot Dog, I am a political scientist/teacher by training and based in Maungafau, Aakarana. I was educated both at EGGS & at AGGS and did make my name in Athletics & Netball in my day.
Tongan and Samoan politics does intrique me. It is so sad that capable Civil Servants such as Sione Taione (Justice), Mele 'Amanaki (former Food) and Maliu Takai (Works) will have to resign from the Public Service before they can stand as Candidates for the coming elections as decided by Parliament last week.
It is now apparent that NZ and Australia will say NO to funding future judges so will Tonga now go to Bainimarama to fund Tonga's new Fijian Chief Justice ? What a 'bitch' !
You people in Nuku'alofa should closely watch the manouveres of some HODS who want to share the spoils with the out-going Ministers. Also keep a tab on the commercial banks especially in the light of the ANZ being declared the best bank in Australia for the financial year. The Commonwealth Bank had come second and no prizes for guessing as to which bank is taking all the business now from the Bank of Tonga ?
It was a 'Black Friday' indeed for some 'high-flying' businessmen in Nuku'alofa who had been slapped with court judgements in excess of T$2 million. The Recievers are really busy this week-end in Tonga.
