Tonga's Government has extended a state of emergency covering parts of the main island of Tongatapu for the tenth time reports RNZI.
The state of emergency was first proclaimed immediately after the November 16 riot of last year.
Prime Minister Dr Feleti Sevele says public order continues to be seriously threatened and the Police and Defence Services will be able to able exercise emergency powers in a demarcated zone until the 13th of October.
Tonga is hosting this year's Pacific Islands Leaders meeting that same month.
