A Tongan People's representative says the delay of his sedition trial will frustrate his party's election campaign.
The sedition trial of five Tongan politicians was scheduled to start at the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa on Monday, but their lawyer submitted an appeal challenging a decision to allow the Crown to file two additional charges.
It has caused the Supreme Court to postpone the trial until August 2008.
One of the five, pro democracy movement leader Akilisi Pohiva has told Pacific Beat, they are frustrated as they had wanted to settle the case as soon as possible.
"We have a lot of work to do and we want to concentrate on our work," he said.
"But we don't want to hang on, our case to hang on for a period of time that is very disrupting to our service to the people."
