Tonga commemorated Remembrance Sunday on Sunday 11th November with a special service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph – Pangai Si’i.
The special event at Pangai Si’i began at 12 midday with two minutes of silence, raising of National flags before wreaths were laid at the cenotaph. Wreaths were laid by His Majesty King Siaosi Tupou V, Prime Minister, Acting Defence Minister, High Commissioners of New Zealand and Australia, Abassador of the People’s Republic of China, Honorary Consuls of the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and France and the Commander of the Tonga Defence Services and Veterans and Ex-Servicemen.
The programme also included Prayers of thanksgiving, prayers for the King, Prayers for the Nation both in English and Tongan as well as a prayer of Commemoration.

Remembrance Sunday is commemorated in most part of the World to honour the sacrifice of their people during both World Wars.
