MR KOESTER in his letter to the editor on 22 November stated that, ". . . is better kept to yourself as your employer TBC could see a divulging of trade secrets and other ulterior motives behind that . . . " Thank you for making it finally clear to the broad public and myself that there was a commercial motive behind the Sky Pacific, Fiji 1 advertising broadcast in Vava'u.

For your information Mr. Koester, Tonga Broadcasting Commission - TBC, does not have anything to hide and again I would like to enlighten you that Tonga Broadcasting Commission was and is still a commercially operated business giving free service to the public.

I read in Matangi Tonga and other publications about the news conference pertaining to objective and balanced reporting. I am not surprised by the recalcitrant attitude of the Tonga Broadcasting Commission Chief News Editor towards the Minister of Information's planned journalist guideline for government media outlets.

As the case of George Lavaka has shown, the desire to create a personal way of reporting on occasions gets in the way of their own house rules.

Another good example was a letter to the editor of this publication by the manager of Television Tonga, pertaining to criticism of TV Tonga. If senior managers of the Tonga Broadcasting Commission are writing this kind of confused public letter, what can be expected of their balanced reporting ability?

If any member of the TBC senior management staff happens to be in her/his position because of years of service, I suggest, TBC thank them for their loyalty, make them redundant and replace them with qualified personel.

The problem with the TBC broadcasters is that they were chosen by a board that chaired by the Prime Minister, Feleti Sevele. The PM that really the most enemy of the taxpayers in Tonga whom they support 100% of the movement for democracy.

'Elenoa 'Amanaki, the Fijian who her experiences gained mainly in organising and supervising machanics and tractors used by the Ministry of MAFF while she was there in 1980s, is posted by the government to manage the TBC just to ensure that the democrats are not allowed to use it and to proclaim their agendas and to get connected with their supporters through the radio and television that is run by the people's taxes.

If we do not change politically, and do it as soon as possible, the problem with the TBC won't be solved. The posting of their employees do not depend on qualification but being royalists and conservatives, and in supporting of the monarchial feudal system.
