In an article written by the world press relating to the violence and unrest in Tibet, China states that it has received support from the governments of Tonga, North Korea and Sudan amongst a number of others.

Currently Tibet is staging a peaceful protest to the world of the abuse of human rights by the Chinese government against the Tibetan people.

Reports of violent Chinese military action against the Tibetan protesters are now coming from the Tibetan capital Lhasa.

While many countries of the world (including Australia) are critical of China, China has also received support from other nations- including Tonga.

Should Tonga be supportive of China's occupation, invasion of Tibet, and should Tonga be supportive of China's human rights abuses of the Tibetan people?

What is not certain is how Tonga's support will be viewed by other nations, and if there are any implications for Tongan people.

For full details regarding the Chinese – Tibetan issue , read the article.
Note: the second last paragraph relates to Tonga’s support to China of the situation.

I do not recall any press releases issued by the the government of Tonga stating its support of the violet use of the military against the Tibetan people.
Koe too e 'a e vaihakaa 'o 'ikai toe 'ilo 'ehe tu'i moe palemia 'aa 'etau fakamaa.

The current government is a farce..... while every other nation refrain from condoning the violence in Tibet, Tonga has send their support... Pea 'oku 'ikai pe ha fakaanga koe 'atunga ia e kole noo koe pau ke tali e kovi moe lelei tatau ai pe ...
There is no logic in this government....

I think this article might give an ambiguos idea of something that has been deliberately hidden from the media as your concern is FT.

NUKU’ALOFA (Pacnews) — Tongan King George V is expected to make his first official visit to the People’s Republic of China next month.
In Beijing, the king will meet the President Hu Jintao, the first meeting with the Chinese president since he became a king.
The lord chamberlain office confirmed the main purpose of the visit was to reaffirm and strengthen the foreign relations between the Kingdom of Tonga and China. Details of the king’s itinerary have not been confirmed but the visit will last not more than a week.
In related news, all the available hotel rooms in Tongatapu have been booked to accommodate guests that will be attending the celebrations of King George V’s coronation in August.
The chief executive officer of the Ministry of Tourism, Edgar Cocker, said they have block-booked all the 513 available rooms in hotels, motels, guesthouses and resorts.
“We are seriously looking at the possibility of acquiring a cruise ship to anchor at the Nuku’alofa harbor, and to provide accommodation for guests during the coronation celebration,” said Edgar who is still unsure of how they are going to get a cruise ship to anchor at Nuku’alofa as a floating hotel, and whether any vessels are available.
A number of royalties are expected to attend the coronation celebration, including the imperial highnesses of Japan, some members of the English royal family, and members of the royal families of Norway, the Netherlands, Monaco, Thailand and Bhutan.
To date only the Duke and the Duchess of Gloucester from the English royal family have confirmed their attendance.
The coronation celebrations will run from July 30 to Aug. 3.
