“Special National holiday to honour Their Majesties Coronation.”
To mark the historic and momentous occasion of the Coronation of the Kingdom of Tonga’s King Tupou IV and Queen Nanasipau’u, the Prime Minister’s Office is pleased to announce to the public and the people of Tonga that the Cabinet has approved that Tuesday 7th of July 2015 be declared a Public Holiday to the entirety of the Kingdom of Tonga.
As per Cabinet Decision, Tuesday the 7th of July 2015 is declared a National Public Holiday. This special decision is a one-off, and it is part of honouring and celebrating the majestic ceremony of the formal investiture of Tonga’s reigning monarch, His Majesty King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u.
The official program for the Coronation commences on Saturday 27th June and ends on Monday 6th of July. The public holiday will mark the end of the celebrations.
