Tonga’s Prime Minister to address the 70th UN General Assembly in NY, USA

Hon. Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva, Tonga’s Prime Minister, will address the General Assembly of the United Nations, this year during the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly Meeting, held at the UN Headquarters, New York, USA from 15th September – 4th October 2015.

Tonga’s delegation, led by the Hon. Prime Minister will attend the Sustainable Development Summit 2015 from 25-27 September and deliver Tonga’s Statement on the Adoption of the Post 2015 Development Agenda on 26th September 2015, followed by various high-level meeting interventions at the margin of the UN Meetings.

The Hon. Prime Minister will also deliver the country statement by the Kingdom of Tonga during the General Debate sessions on the 29th September 2015.
Tonga’s delegation to the UN meetings comprises of the Minister for Health and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Population and Development, Hon. Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala, People’s Representative for Tongatapu 2 Constituency and Chairman of the Whole House Committee, Mr. Semisi Sika, MP; the Chief Secretary & Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. Palenitina Langa’oi; the Secretary to Foreign Affairs & Trade, Mr. Va’inga Tone; three representatives from Tonga’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; three Officials relating to the Ministry of Health. Other Representatives include two technical advisors from UNDP in Tonga and a representative of the Tonga’s Civil Society Organisations from the Public Service Association.
