Community leader Lawyer Nalesoni Tupou has been advised by NZ Police that former Immigration Consultant Kolini Tatafu has pleaded guilty to all charges. She was given an indication of penalty of 2 and half years imprisonment. This matter has been adjourned for Kolini Tatafu to appear for Sentencing on the 21st of July 2015 at the Auckland District Court.
In 2012, Otahuhu Police have been investigating a number of people in regards to an immigration scam involving members of the Tongan Community living in New Zealand having being promised permanent residency status for a cash fee. Since then, Kolini Tatafu has been arrested and charged with fraud related offending.
Mr. Nalesoni Tupou is urging the Tongan community especially people that were affected by the actions of Kolini Tatafu – to meet on Saturday 2nd of May at 10am at 31 Huia Road, Otahuhu. Mr. Tupou continued on to say that it is important that everybody attend this meeting as they are now in a critical situation about their next option, which will be an Appeal to the Office of the Minister of Immigration in Wellington concerning people affected by the actions of Kolini Tatafu.
